Discerning of spirits Needed
1 John 4:1 (AMP) BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
It has been said, “If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, it must be a duck.” This home grown wisdom can be applied to Christianity. If a person looks like a Christian, talks like a Christian, and walks like a Christian, he must be a Christian. The secret to knowing who is, and who isn’t, a Christian is in observing whether he “walks like a Christian”.
All that talks like a Christian is not necessarily a Christian. Listen to the Holy Spirit. He still speaks. Watch the fruit and you’ll know the tree. We really should learn to be fruit inspectors and not so enamored by talent or apparent gifts.
Matthew 7:15 (KJV) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
After walking with the Lord for over 40 years I have come to the realization that everyone who claims to be a Christian, or happens to call themselves a minister, is not necessarily that at all.
Acts 20:29 (KJV) For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Way too many are victims of seducing and lying spirits and are practicing witchcraft through manipulation, deceit, and lies. They are more interested in financial gain and public acclaim than serving those for whom Christ died.
I have said, more than once, “If it were because of many ‘Christians,’ I would not be one, and if it were because of many ‘ministers,’ I would not be one, but because of Christ Jesus I must be both.
Don’t ever base your faith upon man. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Hebrews 12:2a (AMP) Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith
