Light Walkers

Walk In The Light

1 John 1:7 (NKJV) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

There is more to walking in the light than there appears at first glance. What is this “walk” that we’re being called to?

The word, walk, is the Greek word, peripateo. Peripateo is the key to understanding the depths of this verse.

This word means, among other things, to be occupied, to regulate one’s life, or conduct one’s life, in a particular way. So, we are being given instruction here on how to occupy our time and regulate our life in the light. This word, peripateo, also tells us to make due use of opportunities that come from walking in the light.

The word for, in, is the word, en, which tells us to walk by means of, or through, the light. We are to be involved with and empowered by this light and to avail ourselves of the opportunities that it provides.

The light is, phos, a heavenly light, like that which surrounds those that have been in the Presence of God. It is that which sheds the light of truth and its knowledge together with the spiritual purity associated with it. It is the light that gives the power of understanding moral and spiritual truth.

We are to walk in this light as, hoce, even as, or, the same way as, He (Jesus) is walking by means of and through the light. The order of our lives is to be that which comes from revelation as we remain in constant communion with the giver of light, Almighty God Himself.

It is in this walk of constant communion that gives us fellowship with one another in the bonds of His love. In this position of yielded obedience to our revealed course of life we are covered by the blood, cleansed from all unrighteousness. Yes, this is the walk of the remnant believer. Not all are willing to “walk in the light as He is in the light.”

As Jesus constant communion with him who is Light allowed Him to hear what the Father was saying and see what the Father was doing we, too, are called to live in this same way.

We are born-again to walk in the Light as Jesus is in the Light. This opens up limitless opportunities as the spirit realm superimposes itself on the material realm.
