Saved & Called
2 Timothy 1:9 (KJV) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
The call of God unto salvation is an amazing, awesome, act of loving grace. It is a mystery in and of itself.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Before the first act of creation, God, who is totally outside of creation, infinite; without beginning or end, perfectly immutable, chose to create man in His own image and likeness, knowing that he (man) would rebel and need a Savior. This is a mystery that only God Himself holds in His heart.
Any attempt to unlock this great mystery only leads to ideologies that attempt to diminish God and exalt man beyond his station. Whole religions are developed in the attempt to understand that which cannot be sounded nor understood by mortal man. This is the religious plague that is spreading in these last days. Religions of works and secularism which attempts to deify man are rising in prophetic light as the last of the last days dawns on human history.
Romans 1:20-23 (NKJV) 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man–and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
God is. That is that. He has chosen us because of His own unknown purpose.
It is only “through faith we understand.” (Heb. 11:3)
