Confidence

Being Confident

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
Early in my Christian life there was a song that said, “He didn’t bring us this far to leave us. He didn’t pick us up to let us down . . .”. Nothing could be more sure in our relationship with the Lord. We can be “confident of this very thing.” He who gave Himself for us said, ” . . . I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb 13:5 KJV).
We are assured that our Lord is not only going to stay the course with us but He is going to complete the thing that He has begun. God said that He has “begun a good work.” The Greek word for good, agathos, speaks of, a gift which is truly a gift, pre-eminently of God, as consummately and essentially good.
So, then, this “work,” ergon, that is in process and going to be completed, is the gift of God: “Christ in you the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27). The work, ergon, here referred to is “good,” agathos, undertaking by God Himself.
Our verse states that, He will perform, epiteleo, this good work that He has begun. This simply means that He is going to perfect, accomplish and finish the performance that He has taken upon Himself to make an end of for Himself.
Be confident, peitho! Be fully persuaded, filled with belief and say what God has said about who you are and who you are becoming. These two words, “be confident,” call us to continually persuade ourselves of Gods plan for our lives by speaking His words as found in His Word. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17 KJV).
The final act and finished “performance of God” will be unveiled at “the day of Jesus Christ. We shall be like Him!
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Ephesians 4:13
