Please God

Please God, Not Men

Galatians 1:10 (NKJV) For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

The word rendered, persuade, is the Greek word, peitho, which means, among other things, trust, obey, have confidence in, believe and seek to win one’s favor, gain one’s good will, or strive to please someone.

So, what we are seeing here is the question of who we trust, obey, or have confidence in.

Way too many of us are easily swayed by relatives, friends, teachers, or news casters. The “they” of the world are constantly working at convincing you that their perspectives and ideology of life is the one you should embrace. If we are not careful we will find ourselves taking on a mind set that is far from that of God when we are supposed to have the “mind of Christ.”

Everyone one of us likes to be liked by others. This can be a trap if we need to win the favor of others or gain their good will by striving to please them. Our affirmation should come from God, and God alone. We need to assimilate what God has said about us and let His Word affirm who we are. This will free us to seek to please Him rather than those in the world.

World view is rapidly drifting toward the same pagan belief system that faced the early church. Today’s, so called, sophisticated society has left out the statues, for the most part, but is rerunning the idea that all religions and belief systems lead to heaven and please God. Anyone who disagrees with them is seen as narrow minded and intolerant. If this sounds familiar, it is because this is the “progressive” spin on Christianity today.

The early Church stood for the truth that Jesus is the only way to God and they did not waver, no matter the persecution. This is what we are called to in this hour. There is no doubt that it will cause us to lose some friends and become isolated by much of society.

Beloved, we must stand solidly for the Word of God which God Himself has said is absolute truth and His Son our only Savior.

John 14:6 (KJV)  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
