Call Of The Spirit
Luke 1:41 (NKJV) And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
After Mary became pregnant by the Holy Ghost she went to her cousin Elizabeth’s while her fiancé, Joseph, wrestled through the fact of her pregnancy. Like so many believer’s of today, he had a hard time wrapping his mind around the miraculous. Fortunately, his concerns were calmed when God sent an angel to assure him of the truth of her story.
Matthew 1:20 (NKJV) But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
Elizabeth had been pregnant with the child that was to become John the Baptist for six months already. When Elizabeth arrived the most unusual thing happened. “The babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit” and began to prophesy.
Elizabeth’s baby responded to the Presence of the Lord in Mary’s womb. The spirit of the one recognized the spirit of the Other. The spirit of man has no age limitation. The development of the natural mind does not impair the function of the spirit. This is an amazing truth. Once understood, we might want to begin to learn to tune in to our spirit more than our natural mind.
Psalm 42:7 (KJV) Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
No wonder we are told to come to the Lord as little children. We need to learn how to yield to the deep things of the Spirit of God to wash over and enfold us. Shut out the noise of the natural and hear the sounds of the supernatural things of the Spirit of the Lord.
Colossians 3:2 (NKJV) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
This is the call of the Spirit.
This is a gift of the Christ of Christmas.
