It is possible that much attention was being given to the journey of Joseph and Mary as they wound their way through the mountainous region between Nazareth and Bethlehem.
God, on His throne, the Cherubim and Seraphim along with the angelic host were watching and waiting. The Secret was about to be revealed. The Mystery of the ages was about to be brought out into plain sight, vulnerable and dependent upon human care. God becoming Man had never happened before. Who could fathom this act of divine Love.
All of heaven wanted to intervene but dared not when the inn keeper turned the pregnant mother of Jesus away. This was an unmentionable, untouchable, event until the Father sent a chorus of angels to herald the birth of the Christ Child in Bethlehem’s manger.
The King of King’s was to enter earth in human form in a dark cave where animals were stabled. They would be the one’s granted the first view of this miraculous birth shared only with Mary and Joseph.
Through the birth canal He came and breathed with human lungs and cried with human vocal chords. Heaven cheered as the angel of the Lord appeared to shepherds in their field not far away, declaring the glorious birth. He was soon accompanied by the angelic host.
Luke 2:8-14 (KJV) And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
