Good Morning! Merry Christmas!
What a day of wonder and awe. To think that God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth and all that therein is, impregnated a virgin who birthed His Only Begotten Son, Jesus. What a stir it made as the angels of God declared His birth. Recovering from their shock at the angelic outburst of praise and declaration they gathered together and went up the hill to Bethlehem where the Christ child lay in a feeding trough in a cave stable.
Word spread fast as they excitedly told everyone they came in contact with about this glorious event. The whole community marveled at the shepherd’s stories.
Mary was all but overcome by the magnitude of all that had taken place since the Angel Gabriel had visited her in Nazareth of Galilee. So much had happened since then and now the Child was born. Joseph and Mary were left alone now that the shepherd’s were gone away. Quietly, she pondered it all in her heart.
The Baby, the God-Child, helpless and vulnerable, was now beginning His sinless life of service, sacrifice and death. For mankind He came, and for mankind He would live, die and be raised from the dead to return to His Father and our God. This is God’s gift to you and me.
Luke 2:15-20 (KJV)So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
