Wars & Rumors

Wars & Rumors Of Wars

MAT 24:6 “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. SEE THAT YOU ARE NOT TROUBLED; for ALL THESE THINGS MUST COME TO PASS, but THE END IS NOT YET.

As I write to you, many of the world’s populations are being brutally persecuted for their faith. The cry of the people massacred and enslaved in Nigeria is lost in the din of mid-east war machines as well as the cries of placard carrying protestors screaming, “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!”.

“But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, DO NOT BE TROUBLED” Mark repeats (Mar 13:7).

Luke put it a little differently:

“But when you hear of WARS and COMMOTIONS, DO NOT BE TERRIFIED; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.” (Luk 21:9)

Why did God see to it that these words would be recorded by these three Gospel writers?

He wanted to bring a strong word of encouragement and comfort to you lest you get caught up in the fears and anxieties of the world.

Occupy Until I Come

Jesus, in telling a parable admonished His ‘servants’ to ‘Occupy’ until He returned.

“A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. “So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas ($20), and said to them, ‘Do business (Occupy) till I come.’ (Luk 19:12-13)

Our Lord wants us to keep our thoughts, energies, and prayers focused on the ‘job’ of reaching lost humanity.

We’re not to ignore what is going on in the world, but we are, primarily, to be involved in His business.

Consider these words of James, the Lord’s half-brother:

“You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.” (Jam 4:2)

Wars and fighting are the result of sin. The unregenerate heart of man without Christ is full of covetousness, greed, and a lust for power.

This will continue until the Lord returns. In the mean time, it’s a mean time. Focus on being the light in the darkness and the preserving agent, “salt,” in the earth.

So what do we do? We Go

Jesus said, “(You) Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mar 16:15)

In whatever condition or circumstance we find the world, our primary duty is to Go and make disciples.

“Go…and MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL THE NATIONS, (Mat 28:19)

The only real answer for the peoples of this world is the Gospel of our Lord, Jesus the Christ.

Never has there been a better time.

Never has there been a greater need.

Never has there been a greater hunger.

Go –

Do business –

In All situations –

In All circumstances.

John 16:33 “THESE THINGS I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU, THAT IN ME YOU MAY HAVE PEACE. IN THE WORLD YOU WILL HAVE TRIBULATION; BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.”
