The American Family Association recently published an article in their afaJournal, October 2015, titled, “Behind the scenes,” by Anne Reed. It relates the life of former porn worker, Shelley Lubben, and how she broke out of the industry and now, with her husband, head The Pink Cross Foundation which leads in the fight against pornography.
The article states that “[The pornography industry is] teaching a whole generation of boys and men that [women] want to b e hit, gagged, choked, and kicked.” Considering that online porn is accessed by 12-to-17-year-olds more than any other age group,” we need to address the situation now.
The piece also relates that “Child pornography is one of the fastest growing online businesses. And the content is becoming much worse. In 2008, Internet Watch Foundation found 1,536 child abuse domains.” It clearly shows how destructive pornography is to marriages by sharing the statistic that “58% of divorces were due to a spouse viewing excessive amounts of online pornography.”
Scripture deals with the dichotomy between pornography and life in Christ.
The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 1 Corinthians 6:13-15 ESV.
Keeping this in mind, we are appalled that, according to the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, 54% of pastors and five out of ten church going men were viewing pornography. This staggering truth needs to be addressed in the churches immediately. A fresh move of the Holy Spirit is needed to break this devastating bondage that holds so many in its grip.
Men, Wake up! Don’t you know that when you view pornography that you are uniting yourself with a sexually diseased, mentally ill, demonized people. That is what you are joining yourself to and that is what you are bringing into your home. The Apostle Paul was very concerned about “taking the members away from Christ and uniting them with prostitutes.
It’s time to repent, confess your sin, and receive the cleansing of the precious blood of Jesus.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (ASV)
