The New Commandment
Jesus had a lot to say about how we should regard our fellow Christians and everyone else for that matter.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
John 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
The Apostles understood the importance of His command and reminded Jesus’ followers of it often. A couple examples of this are found in the following verses of the Bible.
1 Thessalonians 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
One of the things that many, so called Christians, overlook is that there is some assembly is required:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 (KJV)
We were not designed to “go it alone.” You would think that if we really love each other we would want to be with each other on a regular basis.
Just as families get together for dinner so the people of God should get together around the table of the Lord.
