Do It!

And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. 2 Kings 13:18 KJV

Anything worth doing is worth doing right. What we’re commissioned by God to do is worth doing.

What God tells us to do, we should do with all of our heart.

Had Joash fullfilled what Elisha spoke to him he would have had complete victory over his enemies but his half-hearted response only gave him a partial and temporary victory.

And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice. 2 Kings 13:19 KJV

Whatsoever He says to you do it with all your heart and strength.

Study

. . . Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. 1 Corinthians 8:1 KJV

Lest I be accused of being against education let me remind you that I have Masters in Christian Education and three Doctorates, all earned.

What I have observed is that there are those who through a lust for knowledge begin to get drawn away from the simplicity of the gospel and the power of Christ.

It’s as Solomon said,

And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:12‭-‬13 KJV

There is a great danger in thinking that because you are smart that you know more than God’s anointed leaders.

You may, in fact, be more intelligent or even more educated but you must remember that God called and anointed your pastor, not you, to lead the congregation.

It would be good to review the record of Korah and Moses lest you find yourself in a position of –

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: . . . 2 Timothy 3:5 KJV

Just a thought for today.

All Things

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 KJV

With God, all things are possible.

No matter what the challenge, no matter what the obstacle, you can be victorious in Christ.

Reach for the stars. Press for the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ.

And Jesus said unto them, . . . : for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:20 KJV

Hope

I wait for the Lord, I expectantly wait, and in His word do I hope. Psalm 130:5 AMPC

Biblical hope is waiting on the manifestations of God’s promises with joyful expectation. Hope is then fulfilled by faith in the Word of God.

Our speech tells of the degree of faith’s expectation, for if the heart believes the mouth will speak.

No matter what our hope, whether for healing and health, or increase and prosperity, it will not be disappointed when based upon the Word of God.

Dreams and Visions

‘In the last days it shall be,’ says God, ‘that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Acts 2:17 MEV

I heard a friend say, “Old men dream of what was and young men have vision for the future.” Not exactly what this verse is saying. Nor is it what most biblical examples of dreaming sets forth.

Biblical dreams and visions are supernaturally given road maps to the plan and purpose of God or warnings of pending danger.

To relegate the old to dreaming of the past is to rob them of God’s intended future and to prematurally count them out of value and purpose in God’s scheme of things.

Like the old song goes, “dream the impossible dream, fight the unbeatable foe”. With God nothing is impossible and no foe is unbeatable.

Never Quit dreaming of what can be!

Compliant

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: Isaiah 1:19 KJV

To be compliant is simply doing what you have to do. Many times new believers, like young children, obey because they are told it’s necessary.

As each matures they move from being compliant to being willingly obedient and find joy in being a part of the family.

Ultimately, they willingly obey out of respect, honor and love. This is what pleases both parents and God.

Joyful diligent service releases reward.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 KJV

What is your attitude toward what God asks you to do? Are you compliant or willing?

A Joyful Shout

He brought out His people with joy, And His chosen ones with a joyful shout,
PSALM 105:43 AMP

Joy is the victory shout of faith that will route the enemy arrayed against you.
C.S Lewis said, “Joy is the serious business of heaven”. This is a great truth every Christian must be aware of.

He who sits [enthroned] in the heavens laughs [at their rebellion]; The [Sovereign] Lord scoffs at them [and in supreme contempt He mocks them]. PSALM 2:4 AMP

God laughs at your [His] enemies because of their utter impotency to harm you or alter His decrees.

The Lord laughs at him [the wicked one–the one who oppresses the righteous], For He sees that his day [of defeat] is coming. PSALM 37:13 AMP

So, cast your cares on the Lord and join Him in “the serious business of heaven” and laugh the devil to scorn.
