Double Minded

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. James 4:8 KJV

Don’t be deceived into thinking that a double minded person will receive anything from God. Consider, if you will, the parable of the sower.

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. Mark 4:18‭-‬19 KJV

Our attention must undividedly fis on the things of God.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 KJV

Addiction

Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. Hosea 4:11 KJV

Controlling addictions are demeaning and destructive. The spirits behind them are mercilous.

I had a friend who was addicted to eating. Not being bulimic or anorexic, he was extremely overweight. While sharing a meal one evening he broke down into tears and said, “I don’t know what to do. I don’t eat to live, I live to eat”. Unfortunately it took his life much too early.

Addictions come in many forms but all are designed to steal, kill, and destroy the abundant life that Jesus came to provide for you.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I [Jesus] am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV

As one delivered alcohol abuse, chain smoking, and pornography, I can assure you that living without addictions is far better than living controlled by them.

Before you buy in to the modernist and emergent church doctrines of hyper-grace living consider the dangers inherent in them.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Proverbs 20:1 KJV

Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Proverbs 23:29‭-‬32 KJV

Sifting

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
Luke 22:31 KJV

There is a devil and he seeks to destroy your eternal soul. He’s working aroud the clock to steal, kill and destroy God’s royal seed (you) through deceit, lies, and temptation.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV

Jesus has empowered you to live victoriously. Read the Bible, do what it says, commune with God in prayer daily, submit to God and resist the devil.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 KJV

Receiving Jesus for salvation is also giving Him your unswerving allegiance and service. You are no longer your own.

What? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own? You were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19‭-‬20 MEV

Guard yourself daily with the armor of God.

Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your waist girded with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, having your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace, and above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit always with all kinds of prayer and supplication. To that end be alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:11‭-‬18 MEV

Choose Life

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 MEV

God wants you to choose life in Christ Jesus. He wants everyone to choose to spend eternity with Him.

I call heaven and earth to witnesses against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; Deuteronomy 30:19 MEV

You see, there is a literal, eternal, hell to shun and a literal, eternal heaven to gain. Our choice on earth establishes our eternal future.

Receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior must be accompanied with loyal, faithful, service to Him.

If you love Me, keep My commandments. John 14:15 MEV

Start the New Year right.

Choose

For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Mark 8:36 MEV

Again and again I read of some music “star” admit to rejecting God and His Christ and embracing Satan. The promise of, and need for, success in this life is so compelling that they will do anything to achieve their goals.

I also read of so many of them dying young of drug over doses and alcohol abuse. Their lives are filled with one divorce after another or one “lover” after another who abused them. They live a living death and face an eternal hell even when offered a life of peace and eternal bliss.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 MEV

Don’t make the same mistake.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.Matthew 6:33 MEV

Priorities

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33 KJV

In the scramble to get ahead way too many of us forget the most important rule of a truely successful life: Keep God first.

I learned a long time ago that you can work your heart out and get nowhere but worn out. When our relationship with God is our first priority He teaches us to work smarter rather than harder.

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21 KJV

Remember to keep your priorities straight.

Keep God first.

Live according to righteousness.

Reap the benefits.

God’s House

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 KJV

Every answer for your life is heard by the preaching of God’s Word in God’s house.

The table is set. The meal is prepared. The invitations have been sent. Today is the day of salvation.

The only thing missing is you.
