And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance. Luke 8:1‭-‬3 KJV

PARTNERS ALONE FUELED JESUS MINISTRY.

Even though He could get a tax coin out of a fishes mouth, even though He multipied the loaves and fishes, He stil allowed people to give of their substance.

You will release the supernatural even as you release the people.

Selflessness

Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth. 1 Corinthians 10:24 KJV

When your focus is to help others succeed, you can not help being successful.

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 KJV

Former President Ronald Reagan is said to have had a placard on his desk with a quote from Harry Truman that said, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Philippians 2:3 KJV

Taxes and Tithes

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.
Mark 12:17 KJV

To tithe, that is giving 10% of any increase, is to honor our God who makes it possible.

But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.  Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV

Jesus teaches us that there are certain obligations that we have toward both God and to government. We tithe and give offerings in the house of God, and toward His kingdom work, and we pay taxes to support the government of our society.

Just as paying taxes brings certain benefits such as national defence, infrastructure like roads and bridges, so too, the tithe brings many benefits such as an open heaven, poured out blessings, the devourer rebuked, and

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.  And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:10‭-‬12 KJV

Think about it the next time you’re tempted to skip the tithe.

Responsibility

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him. Mark 12:17 KJV

It’s interesting to me how people will think nothing about paying their taxes yet will do everything possible to not tithe and support the things of God.

Why do you think that is?

Jesus clearly taught that the tithe and offerings were to be a normal part of a Christian’s life. “Render to God the things that are God’s” is a mandate to be obeyed.

The kingdom of God is to be first in our hearts and minds.Jesus’ admonition still holds true today.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33 KJV

Support your country and support the work of God.

Generosity

There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt. Ecclesiastes 5:13 KJV

God so loved He gave. God is generous by nature. Godliness requires that the Christian be generous as his Creator.

God is also a Rewarder of those who diligently seek and follow Him. That’s why the promise of return we see in Luke 6:

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 KJV

Giving Gets

The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. Proverbs 11:25 KJV

God is a giving God. Like every true father, He loves to lavish blessing upon His children. He began by giving the created cosmos to mankind. He provided and cared for His covenant people even to providing Himself a sacrifice for sin.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

It would have been enough that He saved us but He still lavishes us with provision, healing, comfort, joy and peace.

What we have received we should share with gladness and thanksgiving for we have nothing that has not been given us by our loving, giving Father.

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 KJV

More Blessed

God gives the power to increase, “to get wealth” and wants us to accept the responsibility to care for those less fortunate. There is a blessing inherent in giving. “It is more Blessed” even than it is “to receive”.

What many do not know is that you are not giving until after you tithe to your local church. The tithe belongs to the Lord, not you. It is holy and is to be brought to the local assembly and presented to the pastor.

It is only after honoring the Lord by returning what is His that true giving begins.
