Honor

Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. 1 Samuel 2:30 KJV

The concepts of honor and respect seems to have been lost to this generation of secular humanists. To them, nothing is sacred.

The progressive left not only has no regard for civility but is also without moral restaint. No wonder, for man without God is given over to the vile and degrading passions of the sin nature.

Scripture teaches us to honor God and to show honor to those to whom honor is due. God has little estimation of those who do not honor Him and His Christ.

“. . . them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” 1 Samuel 2:30 KJV

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Romans 12:10 KJV

Honor and respect are critical components to the longevity of a civil society.

Presence

. . . Whatsoever man there be . . . among you, that offereth . . . And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord ; even that man shall be cut off from among his people. Leviticus 17:8‭-‬9 KJV

The tithe is Holy to the Lord. It belongs to God the minute you receive increase. It is not yours, it is His.

The tithe and offering are to be presented in the house of the Lord. This requires your presence.

Much blessing is available to those who are faithful, thankful, and cheerful givers.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:10‭-‬12 KJV

The windows of heaven are opened to you.

The blessings of God will shower upon you.

The devourer will be rebuked by the Lord Himself

Your harvest (income) will not fail.

The nations will call you blessed.

You shall be delightsome.

So, present your self to Him in church each Sunday and give Him what is rightfully His.

Spirit Led

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 KJV

We are meant to be Spirit led supernatural people.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14 KJV

It takes making time to wait upon the Lord each and every day to be renewed in the inner man.

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Jude 1:20 KJV

The soul is renewed by the Word of God.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14 KJV

Waiting in the Presence and meditating on God’s Word are disciplines that renew, refresh, revitalize and bring revelation.

Resolve with me to spend more time waiting.

Priorities

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:11 KJV

Imagine traveling for two years across dangerous lands to worship the Lord in His house and to present their offerings to Him.

The Magi, or Wise Men, left their homes, families, and friends and set out on a long and arduous journey. Their priority was to worship the King of kings and the Lord of Lords.

Why, then, is it so difficult for some to cross town to worship Him in His house (the church) and bring their tithe and offerings when that is what God requires?

Honor

And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. Hebrews 7:8 KJV

If you don’t tithe you cut yourself off from the resources of heaven.

To Tithe is to Honor.

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:  So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. Proverbs 3:9‭-‬10 KJV

Every Christian should honor God in the local church.

Every Pastor should have a Pastor and should honor their office with the tithe.

More on Honor

How Do You Regard Your Spiritual Father?

A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me? says the LORD Almighty Malachi 1:6 (KJV).

The Bible is replete of examples how a son should naturally honor his father and a servant his master. There should be no question concerning this matter; it should be as natural as eating and breathing.

I want to challenge you in this regard in your spiritual life. Have you identified your spiritual father or mother? If so, have you honored this man or woman whom God has brought into your life? The one who brings spiritual nourishment, admonishment and correction into your life through the scriptures?

This person is not just a friend whom you can call in time of need or a shoulder on which you can cry in times of sorrow, but a mentor, a teacher, a coach and a father or mother; the one who brings guidance into your life through the Word.

Are you honoring this person out of your obedience to God? What are you doing to acknowledge and affirm their authority over your life?

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Exodus 20:12 (KJV)

The blessing of long life is promised to those who honor their father and mother.

The word “honor,” kabad, carries the idea of “make rich, promote,” and “make honorable.”

As we recognize and honor our spiritual parents we find that the law of sowing and reaping begins to bring increase into our lives. What we have sown returns to us multiplied according to the law of harvest and we become the inheritors of the blessing that our “parents” have to give by the laying on of hands.
