Taxes and Tithes

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.
Mark 12:17 KJV

To tithe, that is giving 10% of any increase, is to honor our God who makes it possible.

But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.  Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV

Jesus teaches us that there are certain obligations that we have toward both God and to government. We tithe and give offerings in the house of God, and toward His kingdom work, and we pay taxes to support the government of our society.

Just as paying taxes brings certain benefits such as national defence, infrastructure like roads and bridges, so too, the tithe brings many benefits such as an open heaven, poured out blessings, the devourer rebuked, and

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.  And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:10‭-‬12 KJV

Think about it the next time you’re tempted to skip the tithe.

Honor

And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. Hebrews 7:8 KJV

If you don’t tithe you cut yourself off from the resources of heaven.

To Tithe is to Honor.

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:  So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. Proverbs 3:9‭-‬10 KJV

Every Christian should honor God in the local church.

Every Pastor should have a Pastor and should honor their office with the tithe.

The Holy Tithe

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Genesis 14:18‭-‬20 KJV

The rebellious nature of man is easily seen when there is mention made of the tithe. More excuses are formulated to avoid simple loving obedience to the Word of God than you can shake a stick at.

The tithe was before the law, during the law, and after the law. Tithing is holy honor and thanksgiving to God. Get over your fear and receive the rewards.

Prosperity

The blessing from the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow to it.  Proverbs 10:22 NET

The Lord does not prosper a person so that they can have bigger houses, fancier cars, and lavish life-styles. His purpose is that He establishes His covenant and brings provision to the work of spreading the Gospel.

He does reward good stewards with luxurious things to display His goodness.

The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.  Proverbs 11:25 KJV

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 KJV

Pastors

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. Jeremiah 3:15 KJV

It’s Pastor Appreciation Month.

While I realize that some just went, I also know that many are sent. Your Pastor, a sent one, is a gift from God to you. Receive, cherish, honor, and care for your Pastor.

It’s a serious calling that can only be fulfilled supernaturally. Pastors need prayer support, faithful helps ministries and congregants, and regular support.

That is the functioning body of Christ. Everyone bringing their supply of the Spirit into the house of God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Hebrews 13:7 KJV

Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

Galatians 6:6 KJV Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.  For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.  1 Timothy 5:17‭-‬18 KJV

A Gift

Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. 1 Chronicles 16:29 KJV

A heartfelt gift opens the heart of the King. Your worship and your offering  touches the heart of God.
The queen of Sheba brought gifts to Solomon and touched his heart. She not only saw the glory of his throne room and heard his wisdom but went away with more than she brought.

The Magi brought gifts to the new born Christ and gained access to his home, received supernatural vision and direction that others did not receive. They worshiped Him and went away blessed with great rejoicing.

It shows honor and thanksgiving to bring a gift when you are invited to a persons home. So, too, should we bring a gift when we come to the house of God.

A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. Proverbs 18:16 KJV

A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.  Proverbs 17:8 KJV

Give God glory. Give Him honor. Come to Him with a gift in your hand.

Be A Blessing

“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
Luke 6:27‭-‬28 MEV

Walk in love. Always!

This is the commandment of God in Christ.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  This is the first commandment.  The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30‭-‬31 MEV

God showered us with love and favor in Christ Jesus. This was not for us only but so that we would be a blessing to the world.

We are light in the darkness and carriers of hope to the hopeless and dispensers of help to the helpless.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how shall it be made salty? It is from then on good for nothing but to be thrown out and to be trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do men light a candle and put it under a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:13‭-‬16 MEV
